KC Regional Singles Conference - Frequently Asked Questions
I’d like to find people to share housing with at the conference so I can reduce costs and get to know new people. We don’t recommend sharing housing with people that you do not know. We do recommend that you get groups together of people that you do know if you wish to share housing. This can also be an opportunity to catch up with old friends from last year. If you are driving long distances to the conference, people from your area can also help reduce fuel costs by carpooling. Co-ed housing among singles is not in line with Church standards.
Can you help me with some housing recommendations? The planning committee is all local, so we don’t have first-hand experience with local accommodations to be able to recommend one over another. An Airbnb is a popular option, and there are lots of hotels/motels in Liberty east of the Temple. Co-ed housing among singles is not in line with Church standards.
Why is the conference so expensive? We want to provide a memorable conference experience that brings in more attendees year after year. Good food and activities over several days adds up. We want everyone to attend who wants to. We recognize the reality that financial limitations or fixed incomes can make attending a challenge. If an attendee has financial limitations that makes attending the conference a burden, we recommend speaking with your bishop or branch president.
Why do you have different pricing at different times? We want to encourage early registration and payment. Therefore we offer early-bird pricing to encourage attendees to register early. In order to plan for food and some activities, we work with a number of vendors who need to plan based on our expected headcount. For this planning, we need to let them know well in advance so they can make sure there are no problems with getting everything they need. There are also occasional activities that give us special pricing based on headcount as well, and we need to provide a headcount estimate, sign contracts, and even may need to pay in advance to complete the reservation process. When registrants wait until the last minute or the day of the event to commit to coming, it increases the chances that we will run out of food during meals at the conference, or need to exclude some from an activity because we didn’t reserve enough spaces for everyone.
I can (want to) only show up for a small part of the conference. Can I get adjusted pricing other than the options on the registration page? No. We already offer several partial conference packages which should satisfy most special needs.
